The repaired travesty. When I traveled to Japan many years ago, a friend said as a writer I was always dreaming. She said my name should be “Yumeko,” which means “Dream Child.” It sort of stuck, and the kanji became very important to me.
So when I realized how horrible my first tattoo looked, I came across a guy who was interested in Asian art. I explained to him that I wanted to make it look better but not cover up the original because we should never forget our mistakes.
He added the second symbol (pretty obvious when you look at them now. The first one is all blobby and a little scarred, whereas the second one is still smooth and crisp), and the waves to help draw attention from the difference. Also, I am an Aquarius.
